Ljubljana, September 3 – Today, the Slovenian Competence Center for Chips and Semiconductor Technologies – CC Chip.si was officially launched at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana. This groundbreaking event marks a significant step for Slovenia, placing it on the map of the European and global semiconductor industry.
The ceremony was opened by the Minister of Digital Transformation, Ksenija Klampfer, MSc.
CC Chip.si will serve as a central hub for fostering knowledge, development, and innovation in the field of chips and semiconductor technologies. Slovenia has the potential to make a significant contribution to global development through its work on custom electronic chips for niche applications, as well as in the field of new generations of chips, such as photonic and quantum chips. This will strengthen the country’s role in a major economic sector with significant multiplicative effects.
The center is led by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana, together with project partners:

The center’s operations will be financed by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Joint European Undertaking for Chips (Chips JU), confirming its strategic importance at both the national and European levels.
