We are proud to announce that our colleague Assoc. Prof. Dr. Matjaž Humar, is a recipient of the 2025 Zois Award for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of microscopic sources of laser and quantum light.
According to the official explanation of the award committee, Dr. Humar and his research team were the first in the world to develop ultra-sensitive lasers made of soap bubbles, to embed lasers into living cells, and to generate entangled photons in liquid crystals. These pioneering achievements open new possibilities for quantum technologies, medical diagnostics, and biological research.
The official award ceremony will take place on 9 November 2025 at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana.
Congratulations to Dr. Humar on this prestigious recognition, which highlights not only his personal excellence but also the innovative spirit of the Nanocenter and Slovenian science as a whole.
