Rudolfovo, Novo mesto, November 6, 2025,  – the Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto – hosted the First Slovenian Quantum Computing Day, bringing together leading national and international experts in quantum technologies.

The event, opened by Prof. Dr. Janez Povh and Prof. Dr. Leon Cizelj, provided an overview of the development of quantum computing in Slovenia and Europe, as well as discussions on opportunities for its application in science and industry.

Among the highlights was a lecture by Dr. Jaka Vodeb  (Nanocenter, JSI), who presented groundbreaking results in quantum simulation of non-equilibrium electron dynamics on multi-thousand-qubit quantum processors. His talk demonstrated how quantum computers enable insight into microscopic processes unreachable by classical simulations.

Prof. Dr. Rok Žitko ( JSI), delivered another standout talk on the challenges and prospects of superconducting circuits for quantum computers, emphasizing Slovenia’s potential to contribute significantly to the development of new quantum processor architectures.

Distinguished international researchers also took part, including Dr. Nicholas Chancellor (Newcastle University, UK) and Dr. Mátyás Koniorczyk (Wigner Research Centre for Physics, Hungary).

The First Slovenian Quantum Computing Day successfully established a new forum for ongoing collaboration among researchers, industry, and policymakers in the field of quantum technologies.
